I recently auditioned with Casting Director Nicole Arbusto. Nicole has called me in for 1000 Ways to Die, 1000 Ways to Lie, CCTV Bank Robbery and hopefully more to come. She also has casted me in 1000 Ways to Lie with Original Productions.

I've been busy here the past month or so booked and shot another music video. This video is for Alicia Keys new single Unthinkable, shot April 18th & 19th. I auditioned with Yasmin Gharib Wade. This audition went as followed: Group of white men called back, told the sensitive information about the music video (mixed racial relationship), engaged in vulgar dialogue, and then said good bye and thank you. I never thought I'd be called back for this job. I say things that were offensive but not normally heard. I tried to not throw the F-bomb or refer to the typical nigger term. Instead, I wanted to show creativity with other choices. I cannot say I didn't say these words because we were told to not hold back.  Jake Nava directed the video and gave direction well.  I made the cut in the video!  This was a Screen Actors Guild Contract.

St. Monica's Catholic Church Coffee House event on 04.23.2010 was hosted by me! This was an exciting bit for me to be in front of a hundred or more people. I introduced the acts and picked winners for two raffles.

Other Auditions: NY Film Festival Spec Commercial, iChoose The Musical, Acura Commercial with Jeff Rosenman Casting, Levi spec, Spec Lamasil Commercial.

I have one audition and two callbacks today. I am truly blessed to have an open flexible job where they understand about auditions. The store manager asked me one day when I thought about not going to an audition because I was scheduled to work, "Chad do you want money now or a career?" He got me out early and I booked that job and film it this past Wednesday. Thank you for keeping me faithful. So they let me out early again today for this audition. This audition is for another music video for Radio Q. The audition is for a Butler. The casting director is Douglas Neff. It went well and he had me go through a range of emotions starting with my choice. My first run through, one line, was like a guy who was afraid of losing his job. He directed me to give a more royal approach and seemed happy with my change. After that he asked if I would mind giving him a gay butler in return I asked could I have an example. He defined how he would like to see it and I gave him my gay butler, not pretty. He said, "Let’s stick to playing it straight." I agreed 100% and we went through two more times. Once he had finished directing me he sent me on my way with my Casting Frontier paper. Casting Frontier is a website where Actor's place a photo, contact information, and other important facts about them on. Casting Directors will ask for the bar code at auditions to keep your information. The importance, I've picked up on, is if a Casting Director hands it back it means, "thank you for coming in but you’re not what we are looking for at this time." The callbacks for Reese's Puffs Extraordinary Cinema went and were fun to be part of. The kids seemed to be learning and I enjoyed getting out there being seen by people.  The project would be great to do but the callback was an additional cattle call. It's on to the next audition.

I’ve two open calls today for Reese's Puffs Extraordinary Cinema. This is a project Reese’s Puffs does with High School Students across the states. They are flown in, put up and film a short in a week. I went to both castings because I fit the bill for them both. These projects have a quick turnaround; so, after each audition I received a callback slip. I’m honored to have been received by both teams. I am excited about this potential project because it helps me follow my goal of being a good role model to the younger generations. I hope I may inspire them to continue their dreams. There are two open calls today; which, I can only make one. The one I'm making is at Central Casting. This is a pilot for TBS called Glory Daze. It is set in the 80's and according to allyourtv the director is Walt Becker. He is picking his auditioning talent by look. Looking for his core students to play Wisconsin freshmen and would like to have an idea of what we look like in full hair and wardrobe. The audition I’m missing out on is for a Paramount Feature Film and it is for background work.

Today I auditioned in Glendale with Blair Franklin for a show that will air on Crackle.  The show is a spoof about reality shows and how far people will go to be on them.  Blair auditioning style is extremely comfortable.  He treated me with complete respect and is wonderful to work with.  I look forward to auditioning for FSA Entertainment in the future.  He was straight forward about how he felt about my audition.  I was told that he knew where he would cast me and will make the appropriated suggestion; though, the decision is up to the executive producers.  Only an hour later Blair called me to book!  He told me that I was the first tape he showed them, told them how excited he was would be to cast me in the spot.  Thank you Mr. Franklin!

I received a couple of phone calls today about work. The production company from the 27th of February called to book me. Unfortunately, I was booked out of town before the call back. After explaining this to them they stated maybe next time. It wasn’t twenty minutes later I get a phone call from the casting director. She wanted to clarify why I could not work on the 6th and 7th. Phaedra was upset but I explained to her I reminded my booking before the callback.

My third exciting phone call would be about Emceeing a Talent show! I have been asked by Marita Palafox to help out with this function: click here for a flier. She emailed me with this statement, “Several people commented to me that you would make an awesome EMCEE.” During our conversation, she informed me her first time seeing me was during the YMA skit of how the Grinch Stole Christmas. I was playing the Grinch. Stay tune to find out more information.

I volunteered at the Catholics in Media Association Awards (CIMA). Every year the association honor's those who work in the media for their dedication and positive message. We are privileged to present these to Sister Rose Pacatte, FSP, John and Gloria Gebbia, The Hurt Locker, and Glee.

John Kelly, thank you for inviting me to this occasion. The ceremony lifted my standards and continued to strengthen my goals!

The callback went well with the Director/Producer. As I was walking into the holding area he said hello and that he remembered my audition. I thanked him and proceeded to holding, granted, I didn't know who he was. This made the formal introduction exciting. He continued talking with me as if I was already one of the talent on the show too. He used words like, "I already know who I want to match you up with, What kind of girl did you say you liked?, and we'll match you up with someone in your weight range 140 to 150 okay?" Phaedra and I had a look of glee! Then as I was walking out to do a final audition shoot, he gave a date that I just booked. We were a little dishearten but he said there could be a chance of work down the road! I finished my audition stong with a final video audition.

I had the pleasure of meeting Gina Fortunato today. She was a Production Supervisor for Walk the Line starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. Gina is working on developing her next project and is looking to film in New Orleans. She allowed me a few minutes of her time and received my headshot/resume. Her act of kindness goes a long way. Thank you for acknowledging me Gina!

Callback for Match Maker!

02.25.2010

I had two Auditions at Cazt in Hollywood today. Luckily both were at the same casting studio and time. I showed up early to see if I may bump one ahead or after; which, worked out well. The two auditions were for "Match Maker," casting by Phaedra Harris, and "Bloodline," casting by Matt Thompson.

"Match Maker" is a Reality show about a guy/girl who will do anything to win the love of their dreams, boxing for love. Well matched suitors would end up boxing each other to win the love. This Reality show's audition went as followed: Phaedra called us in 4 at a time and informed us of the show. She then presented the audition process. We were to tell the camera a few things like our name, height, weight, age, the woman of our dreams and qualities she would posses, tell the camera "that you would do anything to get her", and then show them your boxing moves. I was the second person in the room to go. The women before me gave us all a good example of what to not do and then Phaedra paused her. Phaedra then responded with detailed direction and we then continued. The women took the direction well and set the bar. My audition was fun in the respect that I could audition. I do not know how it will help my career. I said things less than admirable or respectable. On the flip side, I was a total character! I made choices and committed to the scene. I pulled the Irish card and talked politics. The audition was a 100% improv and I had one take. Phaedra said callbacks are Saturday. Here's to another experience. Below is what I submitted to..

Casting New Reality Dating Game Show - MATCH MAKER TV SHOW

[ MEN ]

Looking for Men, all ethnic group, between the ages of 18-40. Should be interesting, able to weave an attention-grabbing story in front of the camera and must be willing to do exciting, adventurous activities to win the perfect date with a hot woman of their dreams. Boxing experience or willing to learn boxing a plus.

"Bloodline" was a unique audition because I auditioned among peers. I've not auditioned for peers since college. I can't say that it was any easier or harder but that it was different. Normally, auditions have been held by someone older. It should not change any part of my work but it was brought to my awareness. Matt was courteous, asked if I'd like him to read with me or behind the table. I opted for him to join and looked forward to the interaction. I learned a valuable lesson from this poor decision let him stay seated to watch me.   He was reading the script instead of working with me and stood far away.  I wanted to work with someone not at someone.  In other aspects, I was auditioning for the role of Davey. Davey is brass, ballsy, with a hint of New York. He's a ball of energy that fills the room. I'm uncertain if I displayed this but time will tell. Below is a copy of the breakdown:

[ DAVY ]
(22 - 27) All Ethnicities. A true character. Funny off the bat, Davy is quite obviously our comedic relief in any situation. Visiting home after being at NYU for the past four years he's comes home to is friends looking for big city fun in the small "cow-town" he grew up in. OVERWEIGHT, Skinny, or other physical additives a huge plus...

I was called today by Mac, a casting director for a show called "Hung," to book a meet and greet with the producers and fitting to follow. He's called in the past to find out my availability in mid to late March. The work is for potential regular extra work on as a baseball player 18 TLY. He said that it is hard to find a redhead with a good look, must mean I have 'it.' At the time, I had 100% availability. He was quite sure the producers would choice me but do not hold any day open. So, if I can book another show book it. Wouldn’t you know I booked a flight out of town and the day I return is the day they film? I fly back late in the day to have missed this opportunity. He and I are disappointed but we hope I’ll have a chance to be on the show. He said they like my look.

Submited to this on Febuary 10, 2010 and I believe he called the next day.

Chad was filmed in a Music video for artist M.I.A. The song will be on her new album; which, she is currently in the studio recording. To Chad, this video is about injustices among people. We lose a humane lifestyle when people judge others on simple differences.
